Google made its Gemini 4 Argon AI model generally available on October 13, 2026, opening access to developers and enterprise customers worldwide through the API, Google AI Studio, and its Gemini for Business product after a two-week period limited to a small group of cybersecurity testers.
The model is positioned for complex, multi-step work including software engineering, financial analysis, legal research, and scientific tasks. Introductory API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through November 30, 2026. On December 1 those rates double to $4 and $20 per million tokens respectively. Early enterprise adopters named by Google include Deloitte, LexisNexis, Ambience Healthcare, and Isomorphic Labs.
For Gemini Enterprise subscribers, Argon reached the web app, mobile app, and AI developer tools on October 13. It also became available in Workflow Builder on October 14. Administrators should note that the model is turned off by default; Google's documentation states the toggle defaults to on beginning October 27, 2026. Organizations that maintain a custom model list will need an administrator to manually select Gemini 4 Argon.
Businesses currently using the Gemini API for production workloads may want to review their usage volumes before November 30 to understand the cost impact of the December rate change, and confirm with their IT or procurement teams whether any custom model lists need updating before the October 27 default switch.
