Ideal Customer

  • Cato's sweet spot spans mid-market to large enterprise organizations, typically those with distributed locations, hybrid workforces, and global footprints who are looking to replace fragmented legacy infrastructure (MPLS, VPN concentrators, hardware firewalls) with a single converged platform.
  • Customer deployments range from SMBs with as few as 5 users to Fortune 500 enterprises with 50,000–150,000+ employees, with the most common customer profile being companies in the 1,001–5,000 employee range.

Key Differentiators

  • Cato's primary architectural differentiator is its Single Pass Cloud Engine (SPACE), which processes all networking and security functions — NGFW, IPS, anti-malware, CASB, DLP, ZTNA — in a single pass without service chaining, eliminating the latency and complexity of stitched-together point solutions.
  • Unlike competitors such as Zscaler (which added SD-WAN later) or Palo Alto Prisma (assembled via acquisitions), Cato purpose-built its entire SASE stack on a unified codebase and proprietary global private backbone from day one in 2015, and claims to be the originator of the SASE category.

Industries Served

  • Cato Networks serves a broad cross-section of industries including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, technology, pharmaceuticals, media and entertainment, aviation, automotive, education technology, food and beverage, wholesale/distribution/logistics, consumer goods, and construction.
  • In healthcare, the platform supports HIPAA-compliant connectivity across distributed clinical sites; in financial services it addresses PCI-DSS and GDPR compliance for distributed offices; and in manufacturing it accelerates M&A site integration and global supply chain connectivity.

Service Coverage

  • Cato Networks operates a fully global platform built on a proprietary private backbone of 85+ Points of Presence (PoPs) that connects customers in 150+ countries across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
  • Specific PoP cities include London, Frankfurt, Dublin, Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore, São Paulo, Lagos, Johannesburg, and dozens more, with multiple PoPs across the US, Europe, and APAC for redundancy.

Partnerships

  • Cato operates as a channel-first company and in 2025 launched its revamped Channel First Partner Program with modular tracks for VARs, MSPs, service providers, distributors, and technology service distributors/agents.
  • Major technology integrations include CrowdStrike Falcon (EDR, NG-SIEM, asset visibility — formally partnered in July 2026), Microsoft (Sentinel SIEM, Entra ID/Azure AD, Defender for Endpoint), Okta (SSO/SCIM), ServiceNow (ITSM ticketing), Splunk, and AWS S3/Azure Storage for event forwarding.

Company Size & Ownership

  • Cato Networks was founded in 2015 in Tel Aviv, Israel by Shlomo Kramer (co-founder of Check Point and Imperva) and Gur Shatz.
  • The company has grown to approximately 2,000 employees as of 2025–2026.

Compliance & Certifications

  • Cato holds SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 certifications (independently audited annually), ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (ISMS), ISO/IEC 27017:2015 (cloud security controls), and PCI DSS Service Provider Level 1 certification — notably becoming the first SASE platform vendor to achieve PCI DSS v4.0 compliance in February 2025.
  • Additional certifications and attestations include HIPAA, GDPR, TISAX AL3 (automotive industry), BSI C5 (German cloud security), NIST SP 800-53 Rev.

Cato Networks passes $415 million ARR as SASE demand keeps growing

SASE provider Cato Networks reached $415 million in annual recurring revenue, up 42% year over year, with growth accelerating in the second quarter of 2026, CTech by Calcalist reported on July 27. The company said it signed several significant contracts with large enterprises in the quarter. Cato has about 1,800 employees, has raised about $1.1 billion, and was valued at nearly $5 billion in its last round. Chief strategy officer Eyal Webber-Zvik said the company is still planning an IPO, and CEO Shlomo Kramer denied reports of acquisition talks with CrowdStrike. Cato's numbers are a signal of where network buying is heading. More organizations are replacing separate SD-WAN boxes, VPN concentrators and web security tools with a single cloud-delivered SASE service. Cato also launched an AI security offering in March 2026, built on its $350 million Aim Security acquisition, and says it has cut its time to protect against newly disclosed vulnerabilities to 45 minutes. If you are planning an SD-WAN refresh or a VPN replacement, include at least one single-platform SASE provider in the evaluation alongside your incumbent firewall vendor. Ask each bidder for points of presence near your sites and users, how they handle internet breakout and backup circuits, contract length and true-up terms, and what happens to your service if the company is acquired. With privately held providers, ask about financial stability and data portability as part of due diligence. Acquisition rumors are common in this market. Build exit and transition terms into any multi-year SASE contract.
