Ideal Customer

  • Sangoma's sweet spot is small-to-mid-market businesses (SMBs and mid-market), explicitly targeting organizations that need enterprise-grade communications without enterprise pricing.
  • Their Switchvox and Business Voice platforms are designed to scale from small single-site businesses up to approximately 1,000 seats, making them best suited for companies with 10 to several hundred employees across one or multiple locations.

Key Differentiators

  • Sangoma's primary differentiator is its flexible, all-inclusive pricing model — all UC features are included for every user with no per-feature licensing costs — combined with the rare ability to deploy the same software across cloud, hybrid, or on-premises environments.
  • The company is the primary developer and steward of Asterisk and FreePBX, the world's leading open-source telephony frameworks, giving it a distinct developer ecosystem and channel advantage uncommon among UCaaS competitors.

Industries Served

  • Sangoma delivers vertical-specific communications solutions targeting healthcare, education, hospitality, retail, restaurants, manufacturing, government, automotive, and contact centers.
  • The company has developed specific use cases per vertical, including HIPAA-compliant calling for doctor and specialist offices in healthcare, campus safety and Alyssa's Law compliance tools for education (via a Quicklert partnership), PMS integrations for hospitality, and multi-site rollout tooling for retail and manufacturing.

Service Coverage

  • Sangoma Technologies is headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Canada, with its primary market in the United States and additional operations spanning the Americas, Canada, Asia, Europe, and Australia.
  • The company serves over 100,000 business customers across more than 180 countries, with more than 2.7 million unified communications seats deployed globally.

Partnerships

  • Sangoma operates a 100% channel-focused go-to-market model through its Pinnacle Partner Program, which offers three tiers (Base, Summit, and Pinnacle) with dedicated in-market support (CREWS), a quoting concierge desk, tier-based SPIFFs, and C-level quarterly business reviews.
  • Key technology integrations include Microsoft Teams (via embedded TeamHub app and Direct Routing), Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho, Redtail, Google Dialogflow, and over 80 additional CRMs supported via the Sangoma Connector.

Company Size & Ownership

  • Founded in 1984 by David Mandelstam in Markham, Ontario, Sangoma currently employs approximately 645–748 people across roughly 18–24 global locations.

CISA lists exploited MikroTik router and Sangoma Switchvox phone system flaws

CISA added several vulnerabilities in small-business network and communications gear to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog in September 2026. On September 2 it added CVE-2026-9586, a SQL injection flaw in Sangoma Switchvox, a business phone system. On September 10 it added two MikroTik RouterOS flaws, CVE-2026-67277 (missing authentication for a critical function) and CVE-2026-86060 (improper neutralization of command argument delimiters), and on September 25 a third, CVE-2026-67279. CISA only lists vulnerabilities once it has evidence of exploitation. Routers like MikroTik's often sit at the network edge in small offices and branch sites with little ongoing attention, and they are sometimes installed by a carrier or a past vendor. A compromised business phone system can lead to toll fraud, eavesdropping or a foothold into the office network. Neither type of device usually gets the patching discipline that servers and laptops receive. Find out whether you have either product in place; branch routers and older phone systems are sometimes installed by a carrier or a past vendor and forgotten. If so, ask the responsible party to confirm the current firmware or software version against the vendor's fixed release, and to confirm that management interfaces are not open to the internet. For Switchvox, also review call detail records for unusual international or after-hours calls. If no one can say who maintains these devices, that is the first gap to close. Assign an owner and a patch schedule for every device that sits on the network edge.
