Ideal Customer

  • Verkada's sweet spot is mid-market to enterprise organizations — typically 500+ employees with multi-site or campus-based physical locations — that want to eliminate on-premises servers and consolidate physical security into a single cloud-managed platform.
  • Ideal customers include multi-location retailers, K-12 school districts, hospital systems, corporate campuses, government agencies, and industrial or logistics operations.

Key Differentiators

  • Verkada's primary differentiator is its vertically integrated, cloud-native physical security platform — the only vendor offering six unified product lines (cameras, access control, alarms, intercoms, environmental sensors, and workplace tools) managed through a single software interface (Verkada Command) with no NVR, local server, or complex IT infrastructure required.
  • On-device AI analytics, natural-language video search, and a unified timeline for incident reconstruction set it apart from legacy incumbents like Axis/Milestone or Avigilon.

Industries Served

  • Verkada serves a broad range of B2B industries including education (K-12 school districts and universities, its largest vertical with over 5,000 institutions), healthcare (hospitals and health systems), retail and loss prevention, commercial real estate, government (federal, state, and local agencies), financial services, manufacturing, logistics, and non-profits.
  • The platform is also used in data centers and pharmaceuticals for environmental monitoring, and in law enforcement for video evidence management.

Service Coverage

  • Verkada operates globally, serving customers across more than 170 countries with 18 offices on multiple continents, including locations in North America (San Mateo, Los Angeles, Austin, New York, Chicago, Tampa, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia), Europe (London, Krakow, Poland), Asia-Pacific (Sydney, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Seoul), the Middle East (Dubai), and Latin America (Mexico City).
  • As of mid-2026, Verkada has approximately 30,000 enterprise customers with over 2.4 million connected devices deployed globally, including more than 100 Fortune 500 companies.

Partnerships

  • Verkada operates a formal channel partner program with over 5,500 authorized resellers and integrators across 87 countries, structured into Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Plus Partner tiers with deal registration incentives and dedicated channel sales support.
  • In January 2026, Verkada named Carahsoft as its Master Government Aggregator, making its platform available through GSA Schedule, NASA SEWP V, ITES-SW2, NASPO ValuePoint, TIPS, OMNIA Partners, and E&I Cooperative contracts.

Company Size & Ownership

  • Verkada was founded in 2016 by Filip Kaliszan, Benjamin Bercovitz, James Ren, and Hans Robertson (co-founder of Cisco Meraki) and has grown to approximately 2,800–2,900 employees as of mid-2026, up from roughly 750 in 2021.
  • The company is valued at $5.8 billion as of December 2025 and has surpassed $1 billion in annualized bookings, with estimated annual revenue of $800–$900 million.

Compliance & Certifications

  • Verkada holds a comprehensive set of compliance certifications.
  • Its Command Platform is certified under SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001:2022 (information security management), ISO 27017:2015 (cloud security controls), ISO 27018:2019 (PII protection in public clouds), and ISO 27701:2019 (privacy information management).

Verkada adds fleet video, enterprise audio and AI workflows at VerkadaOne 2026

At its VerkadaOne 2026 event in September, Verkada expanded its cloud-managed physical security platform. The company launched Verkada Transportation, which combines video security with remote fleet management and includes a trip history view linking vehicle location, camera footage and driving events. It also introduced enterprise audio, cloud-managed sound systems, MCP integrations, customizable AI workflows and updates across computer vision, access control, alarms and facility management, according to SecurityInfoWatch and SDM Magazine. This continues a year of expansion for the vendor. In 2026 Verkada received FedRAMP Moderate authorization in May, introduced the AC43 four-door access controller, and announced a technical collaboration and investment from NVIDIA in July, when SDM reported its platform spanned more than 2.4 million devices. For buyers, the direction is clear: single-vendor cloud platforms are reaching into areas such as fleet cameras and building audio that used to require separate systems. Consolidating onto one platform can simplify management, but it also deepens dependence on one vendor's licensing. Before adding new modules, ask for total cost over five years including per-device cloud licenses, what happens to footage and hardware if you stop paying, and how the platform integrates with your existing access control, fleet telematics or alarm monitoring. If you are considering AI workflows or MCP integrations, ask who can configure them, what data they can reach, and how actions are logged. Compare at least one alternative architecture, such as an open video management system with your choice of cameras, before committing a large site or fleet to any single platform.

Verkada report finds cloud security users adopt AI at 2.6 times the on-premise rate

Verkada's 2026 State of Cloud Physical Security report, covered by SDM Magazine on August 13, 2026, found a gap in AI adoption between organizations running cloud-based physical security and those running on-premise systems. Organizations with cloud-based systems use AI at 2.6 times the rate of those with on-premise systems. The report comes from a vendor that sells cloud-managed cameras and access control, so its findings should be read with that in mind. The underlying point is still useful for buyers. Many of the newer video features, such as AI search across footage, behavior detection and automated alerts, are being delivered first or only on cloud-managed platforms. Businesses with older on-premise recorders may find that adding these features means replacing or supplementing hardware. On the other side, cloud systems usually carry ongoing per-device subscription costs and depend on internet bandwidth for remote viewing and uploads. Before choosing a direction, inventory what you have: camera count and age, recorder or VMS platform, and whether your cameras are on approved vendor lists your industry or customers require. Then ask any vendor what AI features actually run on the camera, on a local appliance, or in the cloud, how much upstream bandwidth your sites will need, and what the subscription costs are over five years. Hybrid options, which keep video local while adding cloud management, may fit sites with limited bandwidth. For organizations that serve government customers, note that Verkada received FedRAMP Moderate authorization in May 2026. Ask any cloud video vendor which compliance authorizations it holds.
