IDC has published its MarketScape: Worldwide AI-Enabled Smart Conference Room Hardware for Hybrid Meetings 2026–2027 Vendor Assessment, evaluating 12 vendors on the AI and machine learning capabilities built directly into conference room devices. The report was published in October 2026 and covers manufacturers supplying hardware for huddle rooms through to auditoriums.
Cisco and Shure were among the vendors named Leaders in the assessment. IDC highlighted Shure's expansion from audio into video, compute, and cloud device management via its ShureCloud platform, noting its particular strength in complex environments where consistent speech capture matters for AI-powered transcription, speaker attribution, and meeting summaries. Cisco was recognized for the range of on-device AI capabilities across its portfolio and for its ability to be managed from a single platform regardless of which meeting application the room runs.
For IT directors and facilities managers evaluating or refreshing conference room hardware, the report provides a structured comparison of how vendors position AI capabilities — including on-device processing, camera intelligence, and integration with platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and Webex — against each other. Organizations planning room hardware purchases or multi-year managed service agreements may find the vendor landscape useful context before committing to a particular manufacturer or ecosystem.
