On October 21, Microsoft launched Microsoft Contact Center Intelligence (CCI) in public preview. CCI is a suite of AI agents — covering customer self-service, quality assurance, and analytics — that connects to existing contact center platforms through an open connector rather than requiring a platform replacement. Telephony, routing, phone numbers, and agent desktops remain in place. The service is currently available globally except in Austria, and is priced on a usage basis through Copilot Credits.
The practical significance for organizations running third-party platforms is that CCI is explicitly designed to work on top of systems such as Cisco Webex Contact Center, Five9, and Avaya. It draws on Microsoft IQ — the intelligence layer that also backs Microsoft 365 Copilot — and connects to more than 1,700 Power Platform connectors, allowing AI agents to carry information from a customer call into other business systems. A quality assurance agent can evaluate up to 100% of conversations against built-in or custom metrics. Voice biometric authentication is also included, which can reduce separate caller verification steps.
Organizations currently mid-migration to a cloud contact center platform, or those that have deferred a migration, may want to evaluate whether CCI provides a shorter path to AI-assisted service improvements than a full platform swap. IT and contact center teams should review the Copilot Credits pricing model before committing, since usage-based costs can vary significantly depending on call volume and the number of AI interactions per conversation.
