Ideal Customer

  • Uniti targets a wide range of customer sizes depending on the business unit: Uniti Solutions (managed services, UC, SD-WAN) is specifically tailored for mid-to-large enterprises across the U.S., with OfficeSuite UC scalable up to 20,000 users.
  • Uniti Wholesale targets carriers, hyperscalers, content providers, and Fortune 500 enterprises needing high-capacity dark fiber, wavelengths, and Ethernet on a national backbone.

Key Differentiators

  • Uniti's primary differentiator is its self-described 'insurgent fiber' positioning — owning and operating a 240,000+ route mile national fiber backbone that is predominantly wholly-owned (over 95% on-net), with 85% of its Tier II and III market footprint facing no fiber overbuilders, giving it a first-mover competitive advantage in underserved markets.
  • The company combines REIT-style long-term contracted infrastructure income with active fiber services, achieving industry-leading low churn (0.2% MRR churn reported in 2024) and adjusted EBITDA margins exceeding 40%.

Industries Served

  • Uniti serves a broad cross-section of industries including healthcare (from rural clinics to hospital groups), financial services, government (federal, state, and local agencies), education (K-12 schools and universities, including E-Rate-eligible institutions), retail, hospitality, biotechnology, and telecommunications carriers.
  • Its Uniti Wholesale unit specifically targets hyperscalers, content providers, wireless carriers, cable MSOs, and Fortune 500 enterprises.

Service Coverage

  • Uniti operates a national fiber network spanning approximately 240,000 route miles across 47 states in the United States, with services also extending into Canada for wholesale and hyperscaler customers.
  • The combined company (post-August 2025 Windstream merger) has the potential to reach over 5 million connected on-ramps including connected buildings, fiber-to-the-tower, small cells, POPs, and data centers, with residential networks reaching approximately 4.5 million households — predominantly in Tier II and III markets in the Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, and Midwest.

Partnerships

  • Uniti Solutions offers direct cloud connectivity to Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS through its Cloud Connect service, providing private fiber Ethernet connections to these major cloud service providers.
  • The OfficeSuite UC platform integrates with CRM systems and collaboration tools, and Uniti Solutions maintains the 'ONE Partner Program' — a formal channel partner program with its own 'One Connect' partner portal enabling agents and resellers to quote, contract, and manage UCaaS, SASE, and SD-WAN products.

Company Size & Ownership

  • Uniti Group Inc. (NASDAQ: UNIT) was originally incorporated in 2014 and spun off from Windstream in 2015 as a REIT.
  • Following its landmark merger with Windstream completed on August 1, 2025, the combined company reported approximately 8,632 employees and full-year 2025 revenues of approximately $2.23 billion — a 91.5% increase over prior year driven by the Windstream consolidation.

Compliance & Certifications

  • OfficeSuite UC (now under Uniti Solutions) has earned SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA/HITECH attestation, with the examination completed multiple years consecutively by an independent CPA firm in accordance with Security and Availability Trust Services Principles.
  • Uniti Solutions' OfficeSuite UC platform uses proprietary code (not open source) and is designed to help customers meet SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR compliance requirements, with encrypted messaging and cloud-secured data.

Uniti says it is open to near-term M&A as Kinetic sale speculation builds

On its first-quarter 2026 earnings call, Uniti Group CEO Ken Gunderman said there is no hard and fast timeline for selling its Kinetic consumer fiber business, but that the company is open to M&A in the near term if it creates shareholder value, Fierce Network reported on May 13, 2026. Reports in April said T-Mobile and possibly others were looking at Kinetic. Uniti, which merged with Windstream in August 2025, has already sold its tower business and its Northeast and Midwest fiber operations. Uniti reports three segments: Kinetic consumer broadband, Fiber Infrastructure for wholesale and transport, and Uniti Solutions for managed services and enterprise technology. Kinetic added 88,000 fiber homes passed in the quarter and targets at least 2.3 million by year-end, while wholesale fiber revenue grew 13%, partly on AI demand. A sale of Kinetic would leave Uniti more focused on wholesale and enterprise fiber. Many small businesses in the Southeast and Midwest, including parts of Georgia, buy Kinetic or Windstream-branded business services. If you are one of them, check which Uniti entity actually holds your contract, when it renews and whether it has an assignment clause. Ask your account team what a Kinetic sale would mean for business accounts on the consumer network. If you are on older copper-based service in a Kinetic area, ask whether fiber is now available at your address, since the company is expanding coverage quickly. No deal has been announced. This is a watch item, not a reason to switch providers today.
